Safety Tips for Hikers and Dog Walkers
Wear bright colours, especially hunter orange, to stay visible.
Avoid hiking at dawn and dusk, when hunters are most active.
Stick to marked trails and avoid venturing into dense woods or unposted private land.
Keep dogs leashed and visible—orange vests or collars are ideal.
Safety Tips for Property Owners
Post “No Hunting” signs clearly if you do not permit hunting on your land.
Be aware that Crown land and private land with permission are open to hunting.
Expect increased traffic on rural roads and trailheads, especially on weekends.
If you manage trails, host guests, or maintain signage, consider updating notices to reflect active hunting periods.
